Southern Recycling EMR USA (SoRec)

Southern Recycling (SoRec) is the premier metal recycling operation in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. Established and headquartered in New Orleans since 1900, the company currently operates a network of full-service recycling facilities from Lake Charles, Louisiana to Tampa, Florida. In 2006, Southern Recycling was acquired by the UK-based multinational, European Metal Recycling, Ltd. (EMR).

Southern Recycling's core businesses involve the high volume recycling of metal-based consumer products, construction and infrastructure metal debris, blue and brown water vessels and marine structures. Supporting the core activities are a range of specialty activities including vessel and platform deconstruction; bridge deconstruction; industrial clearance; total metallic debris and natural disaster debris management; and consumer product and regulatory compliance services.

Southern Recycling has extensive ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless steel operations and produces over 100 grades of recycled products which are taken to the market by our extensive road, rail, and waterborne shipping network. Our customer base ranges from domestic mills to commercial and industrial users worldwide.

To maintain our position at the forefront of the industry we give our suppliers and our customers fast, courteous, and ethical service while buying raw materials and selling quality products at a fair, competitive price as we prudently expand our portfolio of environmentally progressive services and facilities.

Southern Recycling has achieved sustained, organic growth for over a century and is one of the most respected organizations in the recycling industry. Among the largest private employers in the State of Louisiana, the company also sustains a wide network of premium suppliers of goods and services throughout the Gulf Coast region.
